When I played in our parish folk group, we used the Glory and Praise Hymnal extensively. I always enjoyed it and much to the chagrin of some folks in here, it was very appropriate for Mass. Of course, this and other Hymnals were approved by the Bishops in various dioceses across the US, as the Church had lawsuits brought against them, for copy right violations, as people in music ministries across the country, having a lack of modern material, began photo copying hymns from various places, and using them as hymnals in their local parishes. Glory and Praise, as well as Gather, helped put a stop to copy right violations, as musicians found the songs to be well done and appropriate. I hate when the priest chooses hymns from the Glory and Praise hymnal because I have to explain it to the parish when I lector in a little speech that makes me feel like a flight attendant.
