A Reading of "Beauty and the Beast"

Now that you've seen Disney's live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast , you probably have some questions. After all, this is a timeless tale about a young woman Emma Watson from a quiet village in France who falls in love with a surly beast who's actually a handsome prince Dan Stevens under a spell.

One bizarre change the live-action 'Beauty and the Beast' makes from the original

Okay, first and foremost, what I mentioned before: The book creates a huge plot gaffe. From the way the Beast talks about people reacting to him when he uses the book, to the way Belle is able to take physical objects from a presumably real place, we get every indication that the book involves actual magical travel. Why the fuck does she take a goddamn horse? Your dad is, well, okay, not maybe dying. That was the level of urgency that existed in the animated film. A greater, more intense urgency. But still, your dad is in trouble!

Beauty has never liked her nickname.
