The book was first published on 26 June ,  by Bloomsbury in London, and was later made into a film of the same name. The book was released in the United States under the name Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone , because the publishers were concerned that most American readers would not be familiar enough with the term " Philosopher's Stone ". However, this decision lead to criticism by the British public who felt it shouldn't be changed due to the fact it was an English book.

At Hogwarts Harry realises he's special and his adventures begin when he and his new friends Ron and Hermione attempt to unravel the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone. I can read this book over and over again. From the very beginning until the end J. Rowling has me gripped!

Everyone should read this book, if only to realize why the phenomenon "Harry Potter" has spread. With an essential and enjoyable style, J.
